Reporting to the Retail Assistant, the Gallery Shop Attendant works primarily ensuring guests and customers have a positive experience at the Archive by being the friendly face of the Archive. This is a full time role working Wednesday (10am-6pm) and Thursday through Sunday during the Gallery's hours. For more about us, explore our website: letterformarchive.org.Primary ResponsibilitiesGuest Services Greet and check in on-site visitors, answer questions, and proactively find ways to improve the guest experienceAssist with crowd management as needed, including after-hours eventsActively promote membershipsDistribute Archive collateral to visitors Triage main line phone callsStay up-to-date on and be prepared to share information about current and upcoming exhibitions, public programming, books, and other eventsRestock Archive collateral in public spaces as neededBe prepared to share the ways guests can have an impact on the sustainability of the Archive through time, money, or evangelismShop Sell shop stock in personHandle cash responsibly and balance cash drawer(s) dailyAssist with Shop monthly and quarterly inventory Assist with quarterly sales tax reporting Ensure that the gallery and shop are set up appropriately for open hours, including maintaining electronic mediaMonitor gallery, kitchen, and restrooms for safety and security issues and general cleanlinessOnline RetailOversee outbound order fulfillment processes to ensure accurate and timely delivery of products to customersResolve customer inquiries and issues with enhanced customer serviceMaintain a clean and organized warehouse fulfillment workstationSupport maintaining guest records including the use of HubSpot Minimum QualificationsActive listening skills to understand guests needs and desiresProblem-solving skills to offer solutions when guests raise a concernStrong oral communication skills to proactively interact with guests and coworkersAttentiveness to detail to properly log guest interactions and welcome guestsMultitasking skills to attend to the needs of multiple guests at onceComputer skills to utilize guest systems and retail servicesMust have the ability to work hours other than the regular daytime schedule such as weekend and eveningsPhysical DemandsThe Gallery Shop Attendant will regularly be required to perform desk-based computer tasks, including using a computer screen for long periods of time, typing, and making phone calls.They may also be required to move items weighing up to 10 pounds; push and maneuver a fully-loaded book truck weighing up to 60 pounds. Shipping duties include packing and shipping orders up to 50 pounds and transporting shipping orders to the building's mail room or other drop off locations. LocationThis is an in-person role that we will be on site at Letterform Archives offices in San Francisco 5 days per week, every Wednesday through Sunday. Wednesday hours: 10am-6pm, Thursday hours: 12:30-8:30pm, and Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 10:30am-6:30pm.
