Job Description

Summary

Import Logistics Associate is responsible for ensuring that the importation into the United States from Origins in Europe and Mexico, among others and manage service providers primarily in the United States ensuring smooth clearances thru FDA and customs. Managing the imports directly to 3rd party warehouses and directly to our customers for JIT deliveries. They will organize, store, and monitor the distribution of goods to ensure items and resources are shipped to their appropriate destinations.

Essential Functions

● Liaising with our overseas operations, suppliers, shipping lines, freight forwarders and warehouse partners

● Ensure all legal filing with customs and FDA is prompt prior to arrival into the USA

● Delivery order information to shipping lines with proper customer and/or warehouse information

● Coordinate with direct customers planning departments and the receiving teams their delivery schedules and ensure JIT deliveries

● Track and trace containers in transit to ensure that containers are moving, and not sitting

● Follow up with trucking companies to make sure loads are picked up/delivered on schedule

● Coordinate between the steamship lines and the dray carriers to resolve any issues that may come up

● Checking and processing invoices for payment and liaising with the accounting team

Competencies

● Proficient in logistics software

● Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills

● Ability to work independently and multi-task

Travel Required: Occasional

Required Education and Experience

● Business or logistics degree

● 5+ years of experience in the importing/Exporting and/or ocean freight industry

Preferred Education and Experience

● Bachelor’s degree in logistics or business

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
