Join Our Team as a Pump Improver – Support Critical Shipboard Operations!
We’re hiring Pump Improvers to join our growing team in Jacksonville, FL. This is a great opportunity for individuals with maritime experience who are looking to advance their careers in shipyard operations. You'll play a vital role in supporting pumping systems onboard ships, contributing to essential operations like tank cleaning, fuel transfer, bilge pumping, and more.
Responsibilities:
Assist with pier-side pumping operations , including setting up and operating equipment
Run hoses from VAC trucks to tanks for cleaning and maintenance operations
Support the cleaning and washing of ship tanks and bilges
Follow all safety procedures and environmental regulations during tank and fluid handling
Work alongside technicians and senior tradespeople to support the maintenance of shipboard pump systems
Maintain a clean and organized work area and report any issues or hazards to supervisors
Requirements:
1+ year of experience in maritime tank cleaning or shipyard environments
Familiarity with VAC truck operations , hose setups, and fluid transfer procedures
Physically fit and able to work in confined spaces and elevated areas
Comfortable working in demanding shipyard environments (hot, dirty, tight spaces)
Must be reliable, safety-conscious, and willing to learn from senior team members
Ability to pass a background check and meet job site access requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with pump systems on vessels (e.g., ballast, bilge, fuel, cooling)
Basic understanding of shipboard fluid transfer operations
OSHA 10 or Maritime Safety Certification a plus
