Job Title: Structural Welder (1st Class)

Location: Pascagoula, MS

Position Overview: The Structural Welder (1st Class) welds together structural metal components as specified by blueprints, work orders, or oral instructions.

Key Responsibilities:

\n
• Obtains the appropriate tools needed for a particular job and subsequently sets up their equipment.
\n
• Binds together structural metal components that have been pre-assembled and tacked into place.
\n
• Performs good, cosmetic sound welds.
\n
• Examines his/her work and may chip off excess weld, slag, and splatter with the appropriate tools (i.e., grinder, chipping hammer, etc.).
\n
• Leaves little to no rework when job is complete (i.e., cold rolls, pin holes, wraps, burn thorough, etc.).
\n
• Troubleshoots his/her equipment.
\n
• May gouge to remove a member, make a seam sound, remove weld reinforcement, etc.
\n

Qualifications:

• Five (5) years of marine or two (2) years of continuous Company experience in welding.

\n
Skills and Abilities:

\n
• Cable of helping to supervise a crew of welders.
\n
• Certified in 3G and 4G in at least 3 or more of the following disciplines preferred: flux core, short arc, aluminum, aluminum Heli arc, stainless steel, carbon-to-stainless steel, and submerged arc.
\n
• Able to make a full penetration welds that will pass NDE Testing (i.e., x-ray, ultrasound, magnetic particles, dye penetrate).
\n
• Able to lay out track marks.
\n
• Able to identify most commonly used welding symbols.
\n
• Able to gouge.
\n
